No. The physical infrastructure that delivers your energy doesn't change. Con Edison continues to operate the wires and pipes, read your meter, and respond to emergencies. Only the supply portion of your bill changes.
No. Con Edison continues to issue a single consolidated bill. The supply line on that bill reflects your contract with Buy Energy Direct; the delivery line continues to reflect your utility charges.

Your contract spells out term length and any early-termination terms in plain English. Per the NY ESCO Consumer Bill of Rights, you also have rescission rights at the start of service. Your account manager can walk through specifics.
